Cookies

• •Your 18+ acknowledgement, stored in your browser’s local storage so the notice does not reappear on every page. It never leaves your device and is not sent to us.
• •rc_member — a reader’s session after signing in by email link (90 days, or until sign-out). Only set if you sign in.
• •rc_mod — a moderator’s session (12 hours). Only set on the moderation panel.
• •rc_reveal — on the moderation panel only: a dashboard link that could not be emailed, held for up to 15 minutes so the moderator can send it by hand, then deleted.
• •rc_featured_return — a 30-minute bounce cookie around a Featured checkout, so the return page can find your dashboard without the link in the payment provider’s URL. Deleted on return.

That is the complete list. Every one of them is strictly necessary for something you asked for. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no fingerprinting.

Consent banners are required for cookies that are not strictly necessary. Ours are session cookies for things you explicitly asked for, so a banner would be theatre. If that ever changes we will add a real consent mechanism — one that works if you decline — and update this page first.

We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser: a visit is counted with a hash of the request that Vercel discards within a day, no IP address is kept, and nothing follows you to other sites. We see totals per page, referrer, country and device type, never a person. Dashboard, account, moderation and confirmation pages are never reported, and query strings are stripped first. We will not add anything that requires us to ask you to consent to being profiled.

Clearing site data in your browser removes the 18+ acknowledgement and signs you out. The notice will simply appear again on your next visit.
