What is Free trial link?
Also called: trial link, free trial
A free trial link is a genuine platform feature: a creator generates a link giving limited-time free access to their paid account. It is also the single most impersonated thing in this industry, because a fake one is trivial to make.
What it means for you
- A real trial link lives on the platform’s own domain and is published by the creator on an account you already follow. Nothing else is a trial link.
- A trial should never ask for card details on a different domain. If it does, it is collecting card details, not giving you access.
- A trial link arriving unprompted in your messages is the classic impersonation opener.
- The rule that removes almost all of the risk: start from an account you already follow and use the link the creator published there. An impersonator can copy every photo and every word, but cannot post from an account they do not control.
- Be especially wary of trials framed with urgency — a countdown, a limited number of places, an offer expiring tonight. Scarcity cannot apply to a link, and the pressure exists to stop you doing the one check that would reveal the problem.
A concrete example
A message from a handle one underscore different from the creator you follow offers a "free week" through a shortened link. The page looks right and asks for your card "for verification". Nothing is verified and no access is given.
Illustrative. Not a real account, and not based on one.
How this shows up in reviews here
We do not publish which accounts are fake — that would be publishing guesses about people. What we do publish is the free four-step check for confirming an account really belongs to the creator.

Impersonation accounts are common and they are cheap to detect. A four-step check that costs nothing, using only what is already public.
